Looking for a New Water Sport to Enjoy With Friends? Experience Jet Skiing, Wakesurfing or Wakeboarding!

Water sports

Now that the weather is beginning to warm up in some areas around the country, more and more people are spending time outdoors engaged in recreational activities. In 2017, for example, 13.4% of the United States population enjoyed some type of water sports. Recreational boating was popular with over 87 million adults. Millennials, in particular, enjoy engaging in various types of water sports, which amounts to 19.6% of adults within this age range.

Jet Skiing

If you’re looking for a new sport to enjoy out on the water, have you considered jet skiing? When the first jet skis were available, people had to stand up to ride them. During the 1980s, however, a number of advances were made in their design. Now when you go jet skiing, you can bring a friend or two along for the ride. In fact, while some jet ski models hold one adult, others can hold up to four.

There are, of course, different sizes of motors on water crafts. Some of these motors can reach speeds that range from 15 miles per hour to 60 miles per hour. This can be quite an exhilarating ride for those that enjoy cutting across the water.

Wakesurfing and Wakeboarding

There are two more sports that may appeal to you: Wakesurfing and wakeboarding. There is a difference between these two water sports, and much has to do with the length of the ropes and the size of the boards, which are similar to surfboards. With wakesurfing, you trail behind a motorboat on a small surfboard. These are usually about five feet long, and the rope is shorter than a wakeboard’s.

When you go wakeboarding, your board will be towed behind a motorboat as well. This type of motorboat is referred to as a wakeboard boat, and the best length of rope is between 52 feet to 78 feet. This can give you a lot more leeway to perform a variety of acrobatic moves.
