Camping is one of the most popular activities in America for families. In fact, 81% of those asked say they are planning on going on three or more camping trips within the next year! However, even though camping is fun, there are a lot of myths out there that– if believed– could make the trip less successful or outright dangerous. The key to a great camping trip is having knowledge that will keep your trip and all the participants safe and content!
Myth #1: Camping is boring.
There is so much you can do in the great outdoors! Simple camping accessories like backpack coolers or marine coolers open up the possibilities of hiking or fishing. Add in camo coolers, and you can go hunting; bring towels and swimsuits and go swimming, or just grab some wood and have a bonfire. There are so many things to do if you open your mind up.
Myth #2: Camping is dangerous.
So long as you educate yourself on the biggest dangers of camping and/or the activities you plan on doing, you’ll be fine! “Bear-proof” products– which can survive 60 minutes of contact time with a bear– can prevent your food from being stolen, or you being in danger of an attack. Camping coolers can keep your food properly stored as well, which will prevent you from receiving a fine of up to $5,000, a revocation of your camping permit, and/or the impoundment of your food and/or car. Remember that not all cooler brands are created equal, so make sure to compare and contrast to maximize the effect of your purchase.
Myth #3: Investing in Proper Equipment isn’t Necessary.
This almost loops into myths one and two: you can’t have a good time and stay safe if you don’t have proper equipment. Just like all cooler brands aren’t created equal, the same can be said of other products. You’d be surprised by how many people will try to skimp on this and are then surprised when things go wrong. Investing in good equipment can make or break a trip, so don’t take any shortcuts!
